Mothers Day today, 4 cards to open, one from each of the girls and a lovely one from Andrew.
We did our usual going to breakfast, buying drinks for the day from the shop (Elena bought a ball and a fishing set to play with) and then on the beach to go snorkeling. The tide was really low which, according to the Egyptian lad who found us our sun beds, was very unusual. Andrew & Elena went snorkeling and I read my book. I've been reading ??????????? when I got to the chapter where she went scuba diving I thought, I could be doing that so I decided to go into the sea and have a look at the fish. Now I know that's no big deal to most people but I actually have nightmares about fish and although I've wanted to learn to snorkel to get over my fears, I've never actually been brave enough to do it. So, I went into the sea and to my amazement the fish were only swimming around the coral. They were beautiful, colourful goat fish, butterfly fish & even an Arabian Picasso fish. The corals were pinks & purples and I even saw some clams which were open slightly to show off their vivid blue colours. Fantastic ~ wow what a mother's day!!
Went to Cilantros for lunch and had one of their special club sandwiches, washed down with a strawberry smoothie ~ yum. Had a strawberry ice cream from the Movenpick stand, 65p for one really big scoop in one of those Italian type cones ~ gorgeous. As we were walking along an Egyptian lad asked how many camels for our daughter, told him we would accept 3 and we all laughed. Elena got the hump *lol*, no, not really but she was a bit worried and asked if we would really sell her. Of course I reassured her and said I wouldn't sell her for a million camels but Andrew kept quiet. "Not sure about your Dad though," I said, "what are you thinking Andrew?" so he replied, "I was wondering where to put the camels" *lol* so we both hit him playfully and started laughing again. Spent the afternoon lazy around the pool and talking to a Russian man called Vladimir whilst Elena played catch with his grand daughter, Xenia. He told us all about St Petersburg where he comes from and how beautiful it is.
Elena chose Pizza Hut for tea and the waiter, Ahmed, really did take a shine to Elena. He made her a long straw for her drink, bought out a "cheese" hat for her to wear, showed her puzzles like making 4 pyramids & a Taxi from cocktail sticks. Next was the glass of water trick and she had to spin the arrow to win a free slice of chocolate cake, which we all shared. He disappeared for a little while and came back with a bunch of flowers for her and a camel he had bought from the market. He even wrote her name in Arabic on a serviette and said she was worth a million camels :O) Went to a perfume shop after tea and bought 3 glass gorgeous perfume bottles, one for Gemma, one for Lisa & one for me. The lads in the shop wanted to know everyone's name so I introduced Andrew which they had 2 attempts at saying, me Vanda and they all looked amazed and said "Fanta? like the drink?" *lol* and Elena which took more than 2 attempts but she didn't mind at all because they gave her a small perfume bottle free of charge.
She was well pleased with all the freebies she had collected, it all seemed to boost her confidence no end :O)
