Last but not least, as we drove home we heard on the radio that the Titanic colliaded with an iceburg today in 1912 and sank on 15th April.

S is for Saturday, Strolling in the Sun & the Sinking of the Titanic!!
Our Saturday stroll today took us back to Seaview along the coastal path to Priory Bay. Last weekend we walked towards Ryde so this week we wanted to walk the other way towards Bembridge. So we parked in the car park in Seaview and walked to the coast and turned right. We hadn't walked 5 minutes when we found a notice saying the path was closed so we turned round, went back the way we came, through the town and picked up the coastal path a bit further along.
It was quite misty out to sea, so it was hard to tell where the horizon was, but the sun was shining enough to make the sea glisten. There were plenty of ships sailing in and out of the Solent, they looked like ghost ships, shrouded in mist and honking their fog horns at each other. It was unbelievably warm so it was a good job we had taken a bottle of Vimto to keep us going :O) We walked past the Boathouse and just above the door it said 'The Old Boathouse 1557', what a wonderful building and to think there has been one there for the past 450 years ~ wow!!
We carried on walking along the pebble beach to the footbridge. Up a flight of wooded stairs and back down the other side to Priory Bay.

Priory Bay is a private stretch of sandy beach, the photo just doesn't do it justice. It's so gorgeous and so remote. Note to self: Come back in the summer holidays and bring a picnic :O)
We couldn't walk any further along the beach because of the rocks so we walked up another set of steps half way down Priory Bay up into the forest and followed the yellow arrows that were showing us the way to The Duver. We decided to turn back as we were running out of time. Elena had to be picked up from drama at 1pm.
We turned around and went back the way we came. Back down the wooden steps. Didin't realise quite how steep they were :O)
Along the beach there were quite a few little rock pools. Spotted this little creature and named her Me-shell *lol*
Walked to the other end of the Bay, back over the other set of steps to the footbridge and back into Seaview.

As we walked back to the car park the Blossom on this tree just beckoned me to stop and take a photo. I love the house behind it with it's mock Tudor style walls.
It hadn't taken us as long to walk back so we drove around the area with the windows down and Mika playing on the CD player. I'm so glad we did, just look what we found ...
This is one of the 'carved tree' sculptures by Paul Sivell. They are all over the Island. This is his web site if you are interested www.thecarvedtree.com Just round the corner we spotted this absolutely gorgeous house. I haven't a clue what it is but it looks old??
Isn't the Isle of Wight full of Gems!! We are so into exploring we turned down the road into the Priory Bay Hotel, just to be nosy. This is the entrance. It has a lot of history attached to it which, at the moment, I know nothing about so a trip to the library is in order :O)
