The Duver to Priory Bay & Bembridge Harbour

Took Elena to drama this morning at Lake Middle School. Drove to the Duver at St Helens and parked the car. Walked to the old St Helens Church and read the plaque. The tide was right out so we were able to walk along the beach around the headland to Priory Bay where we ended our walk last week. It only took 5 minutes. Now anyone would think we were so organised, studying tide times in the County Press so we could gauge the sea just right enabling us to walk such an easy route, but alas no! Just more luck than judgment *lol* The tide was so far out today we were able to sea the old sea defences and the mysterious rocks we photographed last week. Decided to walk up the steps into the woodland again & found this old, disused machinery. Andrew recons it's a pump of some description which could have belonged to Priory Bay Hotel in the past?? We followed the winding path through the trees, ducking under branches and trying not to get scratched by the brambles. Some times we could see the beach through the trees and some times the greenery was so thick you couldn't see anything. It was so warm out of the wind, it was great. I wouldn't like to walk the path when it had rained though. I should think you could end up on your backside more than your feet, like a scene from 'Romancing the Stone' :O) It took half an hour to walk back *lol* I swear the National Trust have made the path long than it should be *lol* Got back to the car park with an hour to spare so walked along the Duver towards Bembridge Harbour. It's much easier under foot although nothing like the revetment at Lake. Walked as far as we could. We could see Bembridge Lifeboat Station on the other side of the estuary and the house boats in Bembridge. Turned round and walked back to the car. This little house is just at the entrance of the car park. It's the 'Old Church Lodge'. Drove home via Culver Cliff. We could see where we had walked from the view near the monument. Drove to the end and went round the old Battery back along the road. The views from up there are stunning but because it was still quite hazy the photos haven't turned out that well.Had a roast chicken dinner outside again tonight with raspberry pavalova for pudding ~ yum!! Did the usual, hoover up, make the beds, did the washing, hung the wet stuff out, put the dry stuff away, all the boring chores. Andrew started scraping all the flaking paint off the wrought iron fence in the hope of painting it before the clematis starts growing properly :O) Lisa & Liam have gone out, Liam goes back to Uni tomorrow, it will be very strange without him. Haven't seen Matt today so he must be working. Gemma's been working today too, she's up in her room watching a film now. Elena's cleaned Monkey the hamster out, tidied her room and got her bike out the shed. She's hoping to clean it, pump the tyres up and put some oil on it (with Andrew's help) tomorrow. She's got some homework to do so I'm hoping she will do that in the morning. She's been playing with her basketball outside this afternoon, practicing bouncing it under her legs, whilst listening to Jimmy Clitheroe!! Goodness me, I am so lucky, I love my life :O)

It looks beautiful, what a wonderful place to live. I'm still enjoying the tour of the island through your camera's lens.
