Decorating

Sunday again, where do the weeks go? I've been at work all day. Managed to get lots of stuff sorted out so it's been OK. Captain John kept me company for about an hour or so this morning. I've always liked John and get on with him really well. I call him Captain John because a few years ago he took me out for a spin round the Island in his helicopter :O) It was a really warm summers day & I was hanging the washing out in the garden when the phone went. It was John asking me what I was up to. Nothing much I said, stood there holding a pair of wet pants and some pegs in my hand. "Do you want to come flying?" Well what would you have said ~ ermm yes!!! So off I went, bursting with excitement, to the airfield in Sandown. We flew over Sandown Bay and saw Mum & Dad sat outside their beach hut. He showed me the river Medina, the coast, Osborne House the lot. We were up there for about 30 minutes, it was fantastic. I walked round for more than a week with a permanent grin on my face lol. Anyway, after putting the world to rights, he left & I was back on my own.

I took my camera with me so thought I would use this as the 7th photo of my 365 project.

The sun was so warm through the window at work this afternoon, I had to open the door. Fresh air & sunshine makes you feel so much better doesn't it.

I've been pinching photos off Facebook again of my gorgeous Lisa & Liam. They look as if they are having the time of their lives don't they :O)

Marvellous Magical Mushrooms

LOL ~ Elena's invented a new biscuit :O) We've called them Magical Mushrooms ~ Mmmmm! They're just rich tea biscuits smoothered in lemon flavoured pink icing dipped in sprinkles with a marshmallow for the stalk :O) Not sure the dentist would agree about them being gorgeous but they taste divine :O) The other news today is that we picked 2 plums off the tree this morning and they were delicious, really sweet and plummy! Is that a word, plummy? If not, I've invented a new word too ~ lol! Lisa's big news today is that she has her photo in our local paper this week, the County Press. The article is all about the awards given to the High School students :O) Not much else going on here. Raining but that's nothing new, I keep checking my feet to see if I have sprouted webbed toes, but nothing's happened yet thank goodness. Went to Tesco this afternoon and bought the vegetables & all the ingredients for sausage stuffing and forgot to buy a chicken ~ doh! Went to work tonight and that's it.

Broken Gazebo

Every year at the beginning of summer we put our gazebo up on the patio so we can shelter from the sun in the middle of the day. Not only that, it helps to shade the conservatory and stops it getting too hot. Andrew has screwed it to the floor and guy ropes hold it in place. Last year we eat lots of meals alfresco and life was great :O) We got home today from a trip to Newport (in the rain) and the wind was so strong it had dismantled the poor gazebo and broken some of the plastic joints. The metal poles are OK but the cover has a few small rips in it which can hopefully be mended. This weather is certainly freaky. Nevermind, at least we've not experienced the flooding like some places on the mainland.
We had to go to the bank to set up an account for Lisa so she can have her wages paid in so we had a look round Matalan and came out with 3 T-Shirts for £9.00 ~ what a bargain :O)
I spotted these from the window today and ran outside in between showers. I'm not liking the weather at all but my Victoria Plums do. Can't wait to start eating these juicy babies ~ I adore Victoria Plums :O) Oooo Eerrr Elena's been at it again :O) Look, she's made some gorgeous cheese straws and taken a photo for me blog ~ thank you Elena xXx

The Statue of Cookery

Elena & Lisa were cooking cakes this afternoon. This was the conversation ...

Elena: Mum, Mum, guess who I am.
Me: I don't know.
Elena: The Statue of Liberty ~ lol
Mum: No, no, the statue of cookery ~ ROFL

Then it was outside quickly before the rain started again for a bit of a photo shoot. Do you think they look alike ??? She was trying not to laugh :O) She's got a whisk in one hand and the kitchen scales in the other :O) Just look how dark it was outside at 3pm!! Inside the kitchen though it was lovely & warm and the smell was delicious ... These are the finished cakes ~ yummy !! Elena adores making cakes & biscuits, she want's to own a cake shop when she leaves school. We did a bit of tidying up this morning too which meant fighting our way through the sea of modelled balloons. This is her favourite one ...
