Had to go to work this afternoon but guess what, when I got home just after 8pm Lisa was back. All in one piece, safe & happy. We hugged for ages and the relief to have her back in my arms again was unbelievable. I love those hugs when you can actually feel the love, they are the best hugs in the whole wide world.
Just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to all the lovely, wonderful people who left a message saying they were thinking about us. It meant so much ~ thank you :O)
Anyway, she had a fantastic time, she went to the Tate Modern Art Gallery. I asked her what it was like and she said "the restaurant was amazing. They served food like Gordon Ramsey does on the TV". Bless her, I meant the paintings ~ lol! She went shopping and then in the evening she went to see Fiddler on the Roof. She loved it of course. It's her dream to appear in a West End show. One day, maybe :O) She ate at an Italian Restaurant and went to an amazing bar in the evening. Then today she went to the visit the 'Wallace' collection. I asked her if she saw Gromit & Shaun the Sheep but she said no :O) Then off shopping again until she had to come home. This is the last trip from school with the drama group as she is going to Uni in September. Goodness me, I am going to miss her like crazy.

Oh God, Please let Lisa be OK
Oh hell, just look what I've just seen as I went to send an e-mail ...
LONDON (Reuters) - Police found two car bombs packed with petrol, gas and nails in London’s teeming theatre district on Friday, averting attacks that echoed an earlier al Qaeda plot and could have killed or maimed scores of people. Officers defused the first bomb, found in a green Mercedes parked outside one of London’s biggest nightclubs, the cavernous Tiger Tiger, at around 1 a.m., when hundreds were packed inside for "Sugar ’n Spice Ladies Night". The police, alerted by ambulance workers who thought they saw smoke inside the car, defused the first bomb at the scene, saying it contained gas tanks, fuel canisters and nails.Similar materials were later found in a blue Mercedes that had been parked illegally nearby and towed away. The two cars were "clearly linked" said Peter Clarke, London’s anti-terrorism police chief. "The discovery of what appears to be a second bomb is obviously troubling and reinforces the need for the public to be alert," he said.Authorities said they did not know who left the bombs but they had begun a counter-terrorism investigation. The alerts came less than two years after Islamist suicide bombers killed 52 commuters on London transport."It is obvious that if the device had detonated there could have been significant injury or loss of life," Clarke said. He said there were similarities between Friday’s incident and an earlier plot, uncovered in 2004, in which an al Qaeda militant planned to detonate gas-fuelled bombs in limousines. The ringleader of that plot, Dhiren Barot, was convicted last year. Another group of Islamic radicals were convicted this year for a plot in which a big nightclub was among the targets. Please God, let Lisa be OK. Jeepers, should I have let her go? She would have been so disappointed if I had stopped her. She's 18, she would have gone anyway wouldn't she even if I said she couldn't? London's a huge place isn't it, but they said they found the car bombs in the Theatre end of London and that's where she is. Oh Sh*t! Please let there be no more! Please let the police have found all the bombs! Please let her come home safely! How do the people of London live with this threat every day?

Lisa's gone to London
For her end of exam treat, Lisa and her school friends have gone to London today for one last time. It's been organised through the drama course at school. They are going to visit the Tate Modern art gallery and to see the musical 'Fiddler on the Roof' and that's just for starters :O) They will be back tomorrow. Imagine how I felt when I heard this on the radio this morning ... I tried not to let it show this morning as I was taking her to catch the catamaran. I know you can't let the terrorists rule your life or wrap your kids in cotton wool but I still can't help being worried sick. I really don't know what I would do if anything happened to her. It's not good to dwell on these things but if I lost Lisa I would lose Liam too. I would just have to adopt him and then he would be my son
instead of my future son in law :O) Goodness knows what his Mum would have to say about it ~ lol! On a brighter note, only 21 more days to wait until the final Harry Potter Book is released ~ The Deathly Hallows! We can't wait :O) We have 3 books on order for a family of 7 ~ do you think that will be enough? Andrew & I had them pre-ordered as gifts and Gemma's ordered herself one.
Good weekend coming up, tomorrow is our 23rd Wedding Anniversary, oooerr, 23 years! Sunday, I've got the whole day off as Lisa is singing 3 solos in a concert in Ryde. AND England is going Smoke Free ~ yay! About flippin time. Us 'non-smokers' will be able to go to a pub or bar and not come back stinking of smoke.
Well I'm off to work again in a minute, Elena is walking to me from school. Andrew will pick her up and bring her home with him at 5:30pm. I can't believe she only has 3 more weeks at school before she breaks up for the long summer holiday.

Just Roman around Londinium

Museum of London!!! A week or so ago, the drama group that Elena attends, asked me if I would go with them to London to learn about the Romans. Of course I jumped at the chance :O) So today we got up early, packed our lunch and headed off to the bus stop at the end of the road where the coach picked us up.
We caught the 8:30 boat to Portsmouth and got to London about 11:30. We drove past Battersea Power Station, a very famous eye-sore.

I spotted this on Bracken House. I have no idea what Bracken House is I just loved the art work above the door :O) 
The Museum of London (or Londonium as the Romans called it)!
We had a guided tour from the Museum. We walked to the Guildhall Art Gallery where the guide pointed out a circle in the square which marks out a Roman Amphitheatre. 
We went through the Art Gallery down 4 flights of stairs into the basement where they have preserved some of the actual stones. It was so interesting learning about it and how they had preserved it all. 
We had a picnic lunch and then had another guided tour by a Roman Lady. 
She was brilliant and spoke to us as if she were a Roman slave working for a rich man. The drama group children were fascinated and listened to every word. She told us how they were making stuffed dormice for tea and how the drinking water made you ill so they drank wine all the time. She told us about the Roman baths and important they were to everyday life and how she had heard about the Barbarians sitting in their own dirty water until it went cold. She told us about her own job of dressing the lady of the house and doing her hair. It was fantastic. We had chance to look at all the Roman artefact's the archaeologists had discovered in London. 
We had half an hour in the shop to buy souvenirs. 
For the last guided tour we were going to have a go at bringing up water from the well using a replica water wheel. 
We had managed all day to dodge all the rain showers, but because it had been wet, health & safety wouldn't allow it. 
So instead we were treated to a visit of the Roman Fort. The leaflet says ... Just east of the Museum of London, a bridge spans over gardens and in Noble Street: You are standing above the site of the Roman fort built 1900 years ago. The fort and city wall continues, across the road in Noble Street, down to it's South West corner. The West Gate of the fort is partly preserved underground. This is where we went, under the road and down to a locked door which the guide unlocked. It led us into a room where 2 archaeologists were doing some surveying. 
It was quite difficult to grasp the fact that we were looking at stones laid down by the Romans all those hundreds of years ago ~ wow!! We left London about 3:40 and headed back to Portsmouth. The Spinnaker Tower is right next to the ferry port so we got a fantastic view of it from the boat :O) 
Whilst we had a great day poor Andrew had to have an in-growing toenail removed poor thing. 
He only got the appointment through a couple of days ago and wouldn't let me cancel the London trip to stay home & look after him.
