This is my sewing box. It sits at the bottom of stairs and is a really special piece of furniture as Andrew made it for me when we were first married. The purple felt needle case with the white fish on it has seen better days but considering how old it is I'm amazed it's still going. I made it in Mrs Carolls class in 4th year in Warmbrook Junior school, Chapel-en-le-Frith, I was 10. I'm 43 now so its 30 years old,
30!!! I remember it so clearly. I sat next to Jayne Holland at the front of the class and we had to work in pairs. Mrs Caroll (the teacher) came round to each desk with lots of different felt squares and we had to choose a colour each. Jayne and I discussed it for a few minutes and I persuaded her to get the purple square & I would pick the white one. I knew exactly what I was going to do ~ Pisces hence the 2 fish going in different directions. I loved sewing and later made an apron. There was an exhibition in the Town Hall later on that year and my needle case & apron were chosen to appear in the exhibition. I was so pleased with myself and Mum was really proud of me.
