The weather has been gorgeous again today, definitely in the high 20's so we set off to Bembridge with just a thin jumper on. We drove the long way round, over Brading Downs (the view of the mainland was amazing), passed Rowborough Corner Cottage at the junction to St Helens and parked up.
We found the start of the dam wall and the first thing we saw was the old mill.
The wind over the harbour was blowing straight in from the sea and it was chilly, no cold, OK freezing. We wished we had taken coats with us!! ... (The greenery isn't grass, it's seaweed!)
Elena decided the only way to keep warm was to jog so we did, well Elena & I did, OK I tried to, but I gave up. I want some of what Elena's been taking {lol}. Andrew & Gemma walked at a steady pace whilst we stopped and started, it was the 'Hare & the Tortoise' story all over again :O)
The tide was out and lots of old boats, that had been left to rot, were visible.
It didn't take long to get to the other side, a quick look at the sea and we turned round and headed back.
There are a number of bridges on the dam wall, some looked as if, at one time, they lifted up to allow boats to sail through.
Well at least we've managed to walk that stretch of coast.
