The Yar River Trail

Claire & Chris had taken Holly the dog for a walk when we got up. Took Elena to drama and scooted off to Morrisons to get some food for the weekend. The weather was overcast but dry so we decided to go for a walk today instead of the one we had planned for Bank Holiday Monday. Made a picnic for 8 and picked Elena up early and drove to Freshwater. Parked up near the Red Lion pub and found the Yar River Trail. Found a bench to sit on and eat our picnic. Set off walking to Yarmouth. Could see the church behind the trees.Elena & Zoe were always a few yards behind us :O) Andrew spotted this Dog Rose. Zoe & Elena posing in front of the marsh land. View of Yarmouth. Lisa going throught the gate. The gang (I'm behind the camera) Walking towards Yarmouth Mill. The sailing boats on the river Yar. The view of the Solent from the bridge with Poole & Dorset in the distance. A caterpillar on the bridge. Another caterpillar on the bridge :O) Walking back the otherside of the river Yar we had to go through the 'kissing gate' which led into the woods. Over a stile and through a meadow Over another stile and through more woods.Crossed over a dirt track which led to a farm. Elena said, 'What is that smell'??? "It seems to be following me" ... "Oh no, it's me" ~ ROFL!! Thank goodness I had baby wipes ~ lol! Climbed over more stiles until we were back in Freshwater. Walked along the path in between the graveyard and the houses. Spotted these sheep in a garden :O)Ended up back at the Red Lion, 'Coke on the rocks' for everyone :O) Andrew studying the Yar River Trail map ...Drove back via Shanklin so we could stock up on Pic & Mix sweets for tonight. Got home at 5pm, fish & chips & chicken kebabs for tea and then to the cinema to watch the long awaited Pirates of the Caribbean. It was brilliant and well worth watching. If you go, make sure you wait until all the credits at the end have finished as there is an extra bit of film to watch!!!
