OK, how come, some days you're so damned organised and some days it all goes to pot? ROFL. Not only did I get Elena's school starting day wrong, I completely forgot to buy some PE shorts!! Well, luckily we went to Ryde this afternoon and managed to find a pair for her ~ phew! I thought we wouldn't have a hope in hell of finding any but we did, so panic over. I'm looking on the bright side, if I hadn't got the school starting day wrong we wouldn't have been able to go shopping, would we :O)
Next weekend is the free Heritage weekend so , last night, Andrew & I went through all the places we could visit and chose what we wanted to do. Last year we went to Bembridge Windmill & the Roman Villa in Brading. This year, we have the whole weekend planned out :O) On Saturday, after we pick Elena up from Drama, and depending on the weather, we hope to take a picnic over to The Needles Old Battery. If we have anytime left we want to go to the church in Shalfleet. Description: The church of St Michael the Archangel at Shalfleet is a Grade I listed, 11th century building. Tours of the church and a chance to climb to the top of its unusually squat Norman tower. Historic records, including registers of births, marriages and burials, will be available. Demonstrations and displays of stone-carving, stained glass etc. Refreshments provided. Discovery trail for children. Sounds cool doesn't it :O) Then on Sunday, after I finish work we are hoping to go over to Quarr Abbey. Description: Twice daily talk on ruins of medieval Quarr abbey for HODs. The monastic church is open all day (no charge) every day. Architect Dom Paul Bellot. Grade II* listed. Traditional Gregorian chant.
