Handbags & Lantern Club

My favourite radio station in the whole world is Wave 105. It probably isn't the best but it's the one I'm used to. They play all my favourite music from the new Katie Melua song 'If I Were A Sail Boat' right down to all my favourite songs from the 70's. Brilliant. Steve Power does the morning show that ends at 9am so I usually catch the end of it as I drive down to work. This morning he had me in fits of laughter. He has been doing a survey on how many hand bags women own. A lady sent him an e-mail saying she had so many that she's requested they play 'Handbags & Gladrags' at her funeral. Apparently her husband had told her if she buys anymore this will happen sooner than she thinks, PMSL. Well, I was laughing so much I swear a couple of the pedestrians were pointing at me as if I needed to be locked up :O)

Elena's gone to Lantern club after school today. They are making lanterns to carry in a parade along the seafront in Sandown on Bonfire night. I think it's to do with the Festival of Lights. Not sure if this is a religious festival or not as I know Diwali is a similar thing.

Wikipedia says ... Diwali, also called Deepavali, is a major Indian festival that is very significant in Hinduism. Known as the "Festival of Lights," it symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for humankind. Celebrations focus on lights and lamps, particularly traditional dīpa or deeya. Fireworks are associated with the festival. Diwali is a colloquial name used in North India, while the festival is formally called Deepavali in South India.

Sounds great to me :O)
