The World's My Oyster

We had a great time last night with Jean & John. Spent the evening talking and laughing and reminiscing about the holidays & nights out we've shared over the years. It was good to see them again :O) They couldn't believe how grown up the girls were. It was a shame Lisa wasn't with us but I did as I was asked on the phone the other night & sent them lots of love from her.

I missed 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' so caught up with it after work today on the ITV catchup website. Not sure I would like to be in the Australian jungle but it's very entertaining. If I had my pick I would love either Esther Rantzen or Joe Swash to win :O) I'm loving Ant & Dec and all their corny jokes, they crack me up. Definitely a modern day Morcombe & Wise.

On the subject of entertainment, I've just caught up with Stephen Fry travelling across every state in America. I didn't realise how beautiful & diverse the country is. It made me want to pack some sandwiches & a flask, buy a Winnebago and set off on my own adventures. I wouldn't even need to ask Andrew if he wanted to come because I know the answer would be yes. Alas, I think I will just have to put with reading Mr Fry's book for now (yes it's on my Christmas list along with the Mamma Mia DVD) and see if that will quell my wanderlust.

Even the words on HSMSHS this week have been worldly orientated. Today's word is French so this is from the days when the girls were little, well younger than they are now & I had no idea how to take a decent photo lol. I bet you can't guess where we were :O) Back to this country now and we have been experiencing some very fine weather this last few days which has resulted in some absolutely gorgeous sunsets. Photos courtesy of number 3 daughter. Bless her heart, she's never moaned once about having to have her tooth taken out. Here's the offending tooth for the record ~ now you see it, soon you wont. Last but not least tonight, did you know it's Rene Magritte's 110th birthday today! Who? Did you say who? Well a couple of things have snapped into place today all thanks to google. One of my favourite films of all time is the 'Thomas Crown Affair' (yes the one with Pierce Brosnan) and I've always been intrigued by the picture of the faceless man. I now know the artist responsible for the painting was, none other than Mr Rene Magritte himself. Not only that, Paul Simon sings about Rene & Georgette Magritte with their dog after the war & I've always wondered who these people were. Voila!
