The Jolly Sailor

Oh dear, poor Andrew, he's been in a bit of a tizz today. He's been waiting for Claire to phone to tell him how is Mum is and at one point he was ready to drop everything and go up north. The hospital said she's had a comfortable night but was still very poorly. Towards dinnertime he was feeling a bit better because he'd actually managed to talk to his Mum. They let you use mobile phones now in hospitals luckily. She told him she was feeling a bit better and not to bother going to see her. It still hasn't eased the way he's feeling. I don't think it will until he's been up to see her. We had a chat and he wants to finish work early on Friday and travel up to the hospital and come back on Sunday. Of course I'll go with him but it's going to be such a problem at work as I usually do the Sunday shift *tut*. I just hope she doesn't take a turn for the worse in the meantime.

No.6 of my 365 project :O)My keys; Andrew bought me the red fob for Christmas, it's a torch and will come in very handy :O)

This afternoon Gemma, Elena & I decided to go for a walk. We drove down to the Jolly Sailor car park in Sandown so we could walk to Yaverland & back. Just near the chip shop Gemma spotted Mum & Dad so we pulled over and had a chat, they were going for a walk too. We met up in the car park a few minutes later and set off to Yaverland.

Two Little Boys

I was feeling very nostalgic last night and downloaded one of Rolf Harris's hit songs, Two Little Boys, from iTunes. It was the Christmas No.1 in 1969 and I loved it, I still do :O) Mum & Dad came round to see us this afternoon and I told them what I'd done. Dad told me about the time we had gone to the Palace in Manchester to see a show starring Jimmy Tarbuck. I would have been about 5 or 6 and second on the bill was Rolf Harris. I didn't remember any of it apart from some distant recollection of the gap between Tarby's front teeth lol. Anyway, Rolf had just had a hit with Two Little Boys the Christmas before and apparently asked the audience what they wanted him to sing. I had shouted out 2 little boys and so he sang it. How flippin cool is that! I adore Rolf Harris :O)
Back at work today after the Christmas break. It wasn't as bad as I thought, it never usually is. It was great to see Kerri and catch up with all her news from the Big Apple.

Mum's the Word

My baby is going to High School in September. I can't believe it, where has all that time gone? I have a pile of letters to read about meetings, lessons, school uniform etc. & I'm sat here in amazement. My 8lbs 5oz bunndle of joy is as tall as me, in a size 7 shoe, wearing eye liner & straightening her hair. OMG! My mum warned me how fast children grew up & how I needed to make sure I enjoyed every moment. I tried too, really I did, but it still hasn't prepared me for it.

I think I should have been one of those Mum's who just kept on having children so by the time the last one was all grown up I'd have 14 grandchildren to contend with lol. Not sure if Andrew & I would have survived all that to be honest though. Looking at it another way, if we had had 100's of chldren we wouldn't have been having foreign holidays would we. So maybe we should just be thankful that we were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters as I know some of my friends haven't been that lucky.

Isn't it funny the way the world works. I have one girl working for me who became a single mum last year. You know deep down she is regretting it & the poor little kid is being passed from pillar to post at every available opportunity. Then another of my girls has tried for years, going through hell to get pregnant with no luck and you just know she would make such a wonderful mum.

There is some good news though. Gaynor, my cousin, is 40 & had just about given up all hope of conceiving. She & her husband are in the airforce & a few months ago she had to go for a medical. She asked the doctor if there was any hope at all of ever having any children as she hadn't had her monthly period for years. He gave her some tablets to take which were supposed to start her periods again. There was a 50/50 chance that they would set the wheels in motion. She took them, had a massive bleed & then nothing so she resigned her self to the enevitable. Last month she went back to the doctors as she had a swollen abdomen & was worried it was something serious. To her amazement she was 4 months pregnant!!!
