TOO British???

I heard something on the TV yesterday that really, really upset me. The Red Arrows may not be part of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics because they are "TOO British". OMFG, is that not a racist statement in itself. Did the Chinese debate whether fireworks were TOO Chinese? Do the RAF only let white English males join their force? How the hell can something be TOO British,? Heavens above, they will be shooting the Queen next for being the head of the country ~ I'm disgusted!!!

I've just written an e-mail to Boris Johnson asking him if the statement is true. I know how the media love to twist things to make 'News'.

Red Arrows Part 2

I'm at work at the moment, done the banking, petty cash, arrivals & departure lists for tomorrow etc. At 11am though everything stopped. Armed with a cup of tea each, me & Tim went outside, Tim with his scanner, and watched and listened to another display from the Red Arrows :O) They are AMAZING, I can't explain how thrilling it is to watch them. They are so graceful, so precise, so flipping brilliant. Today they drew a red heart in the sky & because the holiday park is at the back of Sandown we got to see where they fly when they all split up before doing the next stunt ~ right over our heads!! We could see the markings on the planes & the cockpit that's how close they were. The noise that follow them is deafening but thrilling at the same time. Listenning to them on Tim's scanner just added another dimension to the display. The noises they were making, you could just imagine the G's they were pulling. Then before each formation they would say, Lancaster, Phoenix etc. depending on what shape they made. Bank right, smoke on, smoke off, just flippin amazing. I LOVE them :O)

Elena was at drama yesterday so missed them so Andrew took her down to Yaverland this morning. Apparently she has taken loads of photos so I'll upload some later.

Wow, this is what happens when I leave Elena in charge of the camera :O) How cool are those photos :O)

Lisa & Liam have gone back to Uni this afternoon, they came and said goodbye to me this afternoon at work. They both have Fresher's Week starting tomorrow so hopefully they will have plenty of fun.

Red Arrows

Oooo it's that time of year again. The WhiteAir Festival is at Yaverland and this morning the Red Arrows did a display over Sandown Bay. We LOVE the Red Arrows, Britain at it's best :O) I wouldn't have missed it for the world. We met Mum & Dad down there along with Uncle Joe (the taller) & Auntie Val. So the Red Arrows started their display by flying over Culver with their headlights on in perfect formation. They amazed us with their maneuvers. The sun was really bright, just over the bay, which made it impossible to take any decent photos because you just couldn't see anything in the screen. I gave it my best shot so here goes. They did more & more daring flypasts, weaving round each other some looked as though they were actually going to touch the sea, they flew so low. Best of all, and I've never seen them do this before, they drew a heart in the sky ~ how cool is that!!! Andrew & I walked home along the sea front past a little beach cafe called strollers. The people that own strollers are great, they have a wicked sense of humour. Each beach hut they own has a different name like 'It Aint Half Hut Mum' and 'Feeling Hot, Hot, Hut' lol. The gaps between the huts have names too like 'Vertic Alley' & 'Dontdillyd Alley' lol. Well today they had road signs up ...

The Red Arrows

Today's the first Saturday since July I haven't had to work and what a fab day we've had :O) Elena's back at drama so we dropped her off on Grafton Street for 10am. We took Lisa to Ryde for her Grade 5 singing exam but, poor thing, she is suffering with a sore throat. Not sure she should have been singing really but she was determined not to miss it. Andrew & I did the food shopping at our favourite shop ~ Tesco. When we got back we started to empty the pool ready for it's winter storage. Had lunch etc. and then went down to Yaverland to watch the Red Arrows. OMG they make me go all goosepimpley. I LOVE the Red Arrows, they are Britain at it's best!!! I remember being on holiday on the Island with my Mum & Dad in 1976. I know it was 1976 because it was the summer that everyone talks about. It was the hottest, longest summer ever :O) We camped at Whitecliff Bay and one day, whilst playing in the sand, the Red Arrows flew over and did an air display. Everyone was cheering and clapping and my Dad told us he had ordered them just for me and my brother. I was only 12 and of course believed every word he told me ~ lol! Well today, I still felt the same way watching them. Standing on the beach in amazement at their skill. Do you know they fly at 400 mph and they are only 20 feet apart!! OMG!!! How clever are these pilots!! I love the noise of the planes as they fly past and always gasp as they fly toward each other willing them not to crash. They are amazing!!! We were watching them so intently that we didn't realise the tide was coming in ROFL. I had taken my sandals off but look at poor Andrew :O) Now you see him ... Now you don't ROFLMAO ... Gemma was down at the yacht club so we had a ride back home with her :O) We finished emptying the pool and washed it ready to put away. We laughed and messed about so much, even Andrew told us a joke ~ lol ~ what has 2 legs & flies? A pair of trousers :O)
